If my life story was a book, what would it be titled?

Image
After reflecting on events that happened in my life, as far as my mind can recollect, I think my life story would be titled  "I Strive, Destiny Drives"   . Yes, I do believe in destiny. I also believe in goals. However, my life so far has been destiny driven more than goal driven. I would love to ensure that I control my life rather than situations and circumstances. More often than not destiny has triumphed over free will. It is not that I never achieved any goals set by me. The scale is tilted more towards destiny. I personally do not recollect events that happened around my birth. I came to know from my mother that I was a premature baby. I came into this world approximately 2 months earlier than expected. You could say I was born impatient. However, life so far has been a lesson in patience. I specialized in Production engineering and during college days, I managed to clear my second year without keeping terms. This was a big surprise for me because there w...

Why do I write?

Image
Do I really know why do I write? Let us try to find out whether I know the answer to this question.  I have been maintaining a blog http://vijitspeaks.blogspot.com  since the year 2007.  My first blogpost was posted on September 8, 2007. I started blogging after I saw an orkut friend’s blog. Before that I was not aware of such an opportunity to show case my writings. My friend’s blog inspired me to start a blog of my own. I used to love writing essays during my school days. However, I never thought that I was good enough. In fact, even now I am not sure whether I write quality stuff. I start writing blogposts whenever I have a heart felt desire to do so. Most of my blogposts are my personal reaction to something I watched in the news, or  some article I read on the internet or things I observed when travelling. When friends started reading my blog they appreciated ...

Playing the waiting game

Image
Getting into a routine and doing the same thing over and over again gets boring. One yearns for change and playing that waiting game isn’t fun. Patience is an important virtue to have in such scenarios. Things happen in life when they have to and not when you want them to. You may try hard to make things happen the way you like and at a time you preferred. However, things do not always turn out the way you wanted or even if they do, it may not be at a time that you wanted it to happen. When life is not going the way you like, calm and patient mind is what you need. Remember the fact that change is the rule of nature. Nothing is permanent. How you see situations, circumstances and people today could be totally different from how you saw it in the past and you may analyze it from a totally different perspective in the future. Not getting something you desperately wanted could actually be a positive thing.  My personal experience has proved it to me that it is all ...

Faith - as taught to me by my daughter

Image
It is already 11 days into the New Year and I know that I am late to post my first blog post for the year 2013. Though I am late, the topic I am writing about is about having faith. So, rather being overtly worried about the delay, I am happy that I am starting the New Year on a positive note and a positive outlook towards life in general. The world not ending in December 2012 also ensured that I am alive and kicking :-)  We recently celebrated our daughter's birthday and post her birthday celebrations I was just sitting and observing her play. I also reflected on the days I had spent with her and I happened to learn something valuable. I somehow feel that the relationship that my daughter shares with our family is exactly how our relationship should be with God. My daughter is very adventurous and is always going about exploring things with great confidence. I think somewhere within her is a strong faith in us that no matter what, we will always be there for her. If need...

Criticism

Image
Criticism, isn’t it a simple word whose meaning everyone understands? Yet, how you deal with it can make or break you. Every one of us has received it and every one of us has been generous enough to shower it on someone else. Even the almighty God is not spared by us. A person who takes action gets criticized for taking action. Someone gets criticized for inaction. An individual gets criticized for speaking while another gets criticized for keeping quiet. Hiding away from criticism will invite more criticism. Taking it head on will also be an act that would get criticized. You may take a decision keeping in mind the best interest of everyone. However, the people whose interests you are trying to safeguard could be the ones with the most bitter of words for you. Someone you had helped tide a difficult phase will not bother to thank you for it. In fact, he may at some point in the future criticize you for it. Difficult it is to deal with such people. However, running away i...
