Shameful act on Republic day

Image
Today what happened in Delhi would have upset any Indian who loves his country. In the name of protest so called farmers chose to disrespect our national monuments and national flag. The day dedicated for our nation and constitution was chosen to demean both. Whether the protest against farm laws is genuine or not is secondary. Primary thing is that a nation because of which our individual identity exists was attacked in the name of farmers protest. It is utter shameful of the so called farmers to have done such atrocious things on a Republic day. I choose to condemn the act of the pseudo farmers on Republic day. I know our honorable Prime Minister will not succumb to the pressure that they are trying to put on the government to repeal the farm laws.  Country first and everything else is secondary. We are because 🇮🇳 is.

Modi creates history by changing the geography of Jammu and Kashmir

Image
My last blog post was about Modi and this one too. I had mentioned in that blog post that he continues to surprise like always and he has proven that statement right once again. Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a bill in the Rajya Sabha to bifurcate Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. He announced that the UT in Ladakh will have no legislature like Chandigarh while the other UT of Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislature like Delhi and Puducherry.  Change is possible if there is a will to change. All governments of the past stated that Jammu & Kashmir was, is and will remain the integral part of India. However, it is only Modi who made that possible in a practical way by making Jammu and Kashmir a Union Territory of India. Jammu & Kashmir is now truly an integral part of India. I do not understand why Congress is opposing this move. My question is that if this was so easy, why did it take so many years to g...

Free Kashmir is a myth

Image
Kashmir issue is getting renewed attention due to the recent conflicts between armed forces and the people of Kashmir. 24x7 media and Pakistan has been trying to cash in on it. However, does anyone understand what is it that Kashmiris are fighting for? Freedom for Kashmir? Will this ever be a reality? Let us imagine for some time that India decides to let go Kashmir and the people of Kashmir form an independent nation. How long will their independence last? Pakistan is definitely not supporting the Kashmir struggle because of love for the people of Kashmir. The very reason Kashmir became part of India was that Pakistan tried to conquer it. If freedom of Kashmir would have been their aim, then there won't be talks of hoisting Pakistan flag in Srinagar. The masked men protesting on the streets are swaying either Pakistan or ISIS flags. The freedom coming out of efforts by these people will never ensure a free Kashmir. They will only cause greater pain and agony to ...

Terrorists are martyrs now

Image
India is great. There is no doubt about it. Ours is a country where even a terrorist who plays a role in attacking Parliament gets glorified as a martyr. Since the anti-national event held on 9 th of February, 2016, I was wondering whether political parties showing solidarity with students of JNU have any morality left. Questions have been raised about videos being doctored. However, why is not anyone questioning the students behind organizing an event to glorify a terrorist who played a role in attacking the Indian Parliament? Was Afzal Guru a martyr? If yes, were the fellow Indians who died protecting the Parliament, terrorists? Just imagine a situation wherein the terrorists would have succeeded in entering the parliament and ended up killing some MPs of the Left parties. Would the organizers have put up Afzal Guru and those MPs photos at JNU and all would have been simultaneously hailed as martyrs? Or possibly they would have said Lal Salaam before the terrorists shot ...

My Gov – Inclusive governance

Image
This blog post is about PM Narendra Modi’s initiative to involve the common man in governance. Such initiatives do not get enough limelight, despite the fact that there haven’t been such initiatives in the past. There may be reasons to hate Narendra Modi but I think we got to be objective about our criticism. Criticize him where he is wrong and appreciate him where he is right. I think this approach to criticism should be practiced by everyone. My Gov is a welcome initiative that is going to revolutionize governance.   We people earlier did not have a say in governance. Now with this initiative we have a forum to give our ideas and suggestions for shaping government policies. Isn’t that true democracy? Government of the people, for the people and by the people is how democracy is defined. Theoretically this has been true but it is off late in Modi’s rule that we are seeing that being put into practice. These are early days but well begun is half done, isn’t it? ...

Fight for Rs.5

Image
Today at one of the railway station stalls in Mumbai I went to buy a bottle of packaged drinking water. My wife and daughter were also accompanying me but they were seated on a bench at some distance from the stall. I asked the price when the bottle was handed over to me by the salesman. I was told that it will cost me Rs.20. I checked on the bottle and the maximum retail price (m.r.p.) printed was Rs.15. I handed the bottle back to the salesman who unlike other salesmen was not wearing a uniform and told him that the printed price is only Rs.15. He ignored my comments, took the bottle back from me and put it back in the refrigerator.  I thought I should do something about it. I stepped back and took the photograph of the banner at the top of the stall which had the name of the contractor of the stall and while doing this also ensured that the salesmen inside noticed what I was doing. In the banner above it was also indicated that all items will be charged as per the m.r.p. pr...

Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar

Image
Today Lok Sabha election results were declared and NDA with 300+ seats are the clear winners and will be forming the government. There is no Modi wave was what you heard from many non NDA party leaders. I agree with them because wave is an understatement. It really is a tsunami. From 2 Lok Sabha seats in 1984 to 272+ in 2014, BJP has made great progress. Modi did play a big role and even the biggest Modi rival will have to acknowledge that.  BJP should be given full credit for using latest technology and social media to their full advantage. I think other political parties need to learn the tricks from them. This is one reason I feel that Modi is the right person to be PM. He is so comfortable with use of technology and derived maximum benefit from it this election. For Congress it cannot get worse than this. They bagged less than 50 seats and that is too low for a national party. I am sure that dynasty politics combined with corruption made them suffer the worst ever defeat...

How an Indian voter should vote this election?

Image
Before I comment on how an Indian voter should vote let me make it very clear that this is my personal opinion.  The ultimate decision about whom to vote for is to be taken by your own free will. However, please do make an informed and responsible decision as each vote counts and it will decide the future of our nation. It is very evident that the real choice to be made is between Congress and the BJP. Aam Admi Party is claiming to be a serious contender but after how they handled Delhi, I feel they are not ready yet. Their inexperience will be disastrous for us. So, I am not considering them for my analysis here. Between BJP and Congress, whom should we vote? To be specific, should we vote for NDA or UPA? If corruption is the deciding factor then please do not think that NDA would be majorly different from UPA. Moreover, corruption thrives because we as society are corrupt and we breed corrupt politicians. If we sell our votes and end up electing a corrupt politician then we...

AAP is BAAP

Image
The Aam Admi Party (AAP) has done to Congress what David did to Goliath. To emerge as the second largest party in the very first election that it fought is something really great. Congress which was the ruling party in Delhi, suffered the worst ever defeat when results were declared on 8th December, 2013. I appreciate Arvind Kejriwal as he took up the challenge of getting into the system to clean the system. When he along with Anna Hazare was fighting for the Jan Lokpal bill, the politicians had challenged them to get into politics. He took the challenge and proved that his party will be a force to reckon with. I am mighty impressed with the results achieved by the Aam Admi Party. I know winning one election is not the end, there is a long way to go. AAP now has to prove that they are true to their claim about fighting corruption and bringing transparency in the system. I know they may not end up ruling Delhi and there could be re-election also. However, if there is no re-elect...
