Playing the waiting game

Getting into a routine and doing the same thing over and over again gets boring. One yearns for change and playing that waiting game isn’t fun. Patience is an important virtue to have in such scenarios. Things happen in life when they have to and not when you want them to. You may try hard to make things happen the way you like and at a time you preferred. However, things do not always turn out the way you wanted or even if they do, it may not be at a time that you wanted it to happen.

When life is not going the way you like, calm and patient mind is what you need. Remember the fact that change is the rule of nature. Nothing is permanent. How you see situations, circumstances and people today could be totally different from how you saw it in the past and you may analyze it from a totally different perspective in the future. Not getting something you desperately wanted could actually be a positive thing.

My personal experience has proved it to me that it is all about your perception. How you take things matters more than anything else. Few months back I was struggling with severe pain in the neck all the way to the upper back. Pain was strong enough to restrict my neck movement. Medicines did help me to get relief but slight pain still remained. Along with medicines I had started doing neck exercises too. Gradually the pain was gone and I got into the habit of exercising. Though not every day but atleast 3-4 days in a week I do exercise and that makes me feel good about myself. In fact, the day I miss out on exercising I feel bad. I always wanted to exercise and in the past I used to initiate some routine only to discontinue it mid way. However, when I was going through lot of pain and wasn’t left with any option but to exercise, I made sure that I exercised without fail. It is only a maximum of 30 minutes that I spend doing light workout but it does make me feel lot more energetic. The whole point of sharing this personal experience here is to highlight the fact that the excruciating pain felt by me was something very negative that happened to me. Yet it actually forced me to bring about a positive change in my life.

There is nothing wrong in having your own plans for a future that you wish to have. However, holding on to such plans thinking that nothing else would work in your favor is not right. Always be ready to adapt your plans according to situations and circumstances in your life. At times, you may have to take a pause just to ensure that you are moving in the right direction. That pause may be perceived as negative by you at that moment. However, sometime in future when you sit and reflect you would realize that it was really the game changer.
