Intent matters

Image
Intent matters and is the only thing that matters in the long run. Perceptions of people may act as stumbling blocks but if you are doing any task with clear and good intention then these temporary challenges should not matter at all. Let me take one example of an intention that almost every one of us will have. It is about making money and securing our future. Is it good or bad to have an intention like this? I would say it depends from person to person. Even a thief will have an intention like this. So, a good intent will also be one that ensures that the foundation of your success is not laid on the losses of others. A win win situation for all is the only way to be happy and stay happy. This does not mean that you part with your hard earned money to help out someone who suffered losses because of his or her own foolish ways. Only thing I wanted to communicate is that do not cause losses to others in the pursuit of your goal. Achieving goals means taking right act...

How an Indian voter should vote this election?

Image
Before I comment on how an Indian voter should vote let me make it very clear that this is my personal opinion.  The ultimate decision about whom to vote for is to be taken by your own free will. However, please do make an informed and responsible decision as each vote counts and it will decide the future of our nation. It is very evident that the real choice to be made is between Congress and the BJP. Aam Admi Party is claiming to be a serious contender but after how they handled Delhi, I feel they are not ready yet. Their inexperience will be disastrous for us. So, I am not considering them for my analysis here. Between BJP and Congress, whom should we vote? To be specific, should we vote for NDA or UPA? If corruption is the deciding factor then please do not think that NDA would be majorly different from UPA. Moreover, corruption thrives because we as society are corrupt and we breed corrupt politicians. If we sell our votes and end up electing a corrupt politician then we...

Kids teach us

You never know from whom and from where your next learning would come. My daughter is 2 year old and we had a guest visit us yesterday along with his 3 year old daughter. They are Maharastrians and we Keralites. My daughter only speaks Malayalam and does mix some Hindi words in her conversation. Our 3 year old guest on the other hand only speaks Marathi. They had met just once before, long time back. I was wondering how would they interact. However it was interesting to observe what transpired between them. They started playing with each other like they knew each other for ages. Language wasn't a barrier at all in communication. Both were talking to each other but words hardly mattered.  For them what mattered was that they were playing with each other and enjoying it. For feelings to be understood, it only takes a heart filled with love. The analytical brain plays spoil sport. The more you think, the more differences you will find. For my daughter and her new found friend it ...

Walk the Talk

Image
In life you will come across people who are good at talking but they do not walk the talk . They will have hundreds of words to assure us about getting things done, however , their actions hardly match up. I have come across many such people both in personal and professional life . I have always believed in the following statement : " Actions speak louder than words ". What matters is whether things get done . I personally do not give much attention to what is said . I focus more on what is delivered . If you can not do something it is better to be upfront about it rather than committing to do it. The politicians typically are the ones who are considered to be of the kind who do not deliver on their election commitments . However , you will find friends , relatives , colleagues and even organizations falling in this category . Many do it just to avoid confrontation or to come across as being pleasant. This ...

Wrong is wrong. Right is right.

Image
The above image was shared by one of my Facebook friends. It inspired me to write the first blog of the year 2014. The quote is so relevant in our every day life. So many times we have been tempted to justify our wrong actions by stating that others are also doing it. We try to defend our incorrect actions by indicating that the vast majority is doing it. Ultimately every one shrugs their responsibility and the society at large comes across as irresponsible. The best example is of littering in public places. Majority of us are educated enough to know that it is not the right thing to do. We still do it because others are doing it. When someone does it and it affects us because it is closer to our house or workplace we would be frustrated and speak negatively about this act. However, when we are the doer, we will have many words to justify the same act because of the simple reason that we are not the one at the receiving end. To stand up and fight for what is right take...

Bring it on 2014

Image
It is that time of the year when everyone is eager to welcome the New Year. I am also eagerly waiting for the New Year with renewed hope. 2013 was an average year. However, I am very sure that the hard lessons I learned in the year 2013 will help me grow both personally as well as professionally in the year 2014. One positive thing I did in the year 2013 was taking to meditation in a strong way. Though I am still an amateur, the good thing is that I haven’t given up. I am still at it and hoping to master it in the year 2014. There is a voice within that tells me that 2014 will be a game changer year for me. My sixth sense has given subtle indication about this through a dream. I am curiously waiting for each day to unravel the mystery and magic that year 2014 has wrapped for me. I have resolved to achieve some personal and professional goals in the New Year. I am sure I will be able to achieve them.  2013 was not good for the blogger in me as wel...
